We photograph destination weddings along the Côte d’Azur — belle-époque villas on Cap Ferrat and Cap d’Antibes, seafront hotel terraces, and hillside estates above Nice with the whole bay below. Two photographers, on site two days early, from $22,000.
This is the easiest European destination on our list to move a large guest list to: Nice airport is twenty minutes from most of the capes and the international connections are direct from everywhere. What it asks in return is a coast road that barely moves in season.
The Côte d’Azur photographs as a colour before it photographs as a place. Umbrella pines against a Mediterranean that genuinely is that blue, pale ochre villas, white stone, and a sea wall between them and the water. Everything about it is high-contrast and saturated, and it rewards being photographed for what it is rather than softened into something gentler.
The weddings here are on the capes — Cap Ferrat, Cap d’Antibes, Cap d’Ail — where the belle-époque villas sit in gardens that run down to private rock platforms and the sea is on three sides. It is the most glamorous coastline in Europe and it has been for a hundred years, and the venues know exactly what they have.
The practical reality is a coast that is extremely busy from June to September, a road network that reflects that, and a strong preference among the best properties for an evening that ends when they say it ends.

A Riviera wedding is commissioned as a destination wedding from $22,000: two photographers, two days on site before the date, and full coverage of the day itself.
The photographic problem here is contrast rather than logistics. Umbrella pines, white stone, ochre stucco and a sea that genuinely is that blue sit at the limit of what one frame holds. We expose for the water and lift the stone, which is why photographs made this way look like the place rather than like a postcard of it — and it is a decision taken at the camera, not recovered afterwards.

How much is a French Riviera wedding photographer?
From $22,000 for a destination wedding with two photographers, two days on site beforehand and full coverage of the day. Travel is quoted at cost, and from most of Europe it is a short one.
Is the sea really that colour?
In the middle of the day in summer, yes, and it is a problem as much as a gift. That blue against white stone is close to the limit of what a sensor holds, so we expose for the water and lift the stone rather than the reverse.
How do we plan around the traffic?
Generously, or not at all. The coast road between Nice, Antibes and Cannes is slow from June to September, and a guest transfer that looks like twenty minutes on a map is an hour on a Saturday in August.
When does the evening have to end?
Earlier than you might expect. Most cap properties operate under a local noise ordinance with a firm finish, and it is worth knowing the hour before the band is booked rather than after.
Which month?
September — warm sea, thinning crowds, longer shadows and the light beginning to turn. May and June are clear and warm with the coast still quiet; July and August are the peak in every sense, including the road.
Can we use the beach or the rocks?
Most of the seafront here is private, and the rock platforms that look public generally belong to a villa or a club. Your venue will know what it controls; we plan the portrait route inside that rather than discovering it on the day.
