The most important thing to plan around is the light: the island sun is very hard at midday and the famous evening viewpoints are crowded, so the ceremony hour and the portrait locations are chosen with both in mind.

What a Greece wedding is like
The Cyclades are whitewashed walls, blue doors and bright stone, and every surface reflects. At midday that makes the light harsh and flat, but in the last hour of the day the white turns warm and the shadows turn blue, and the islands come into their own. The summer wind can be strong, and it shapes everything from veils to where the dinner table goes.
Santorini is the caldera: towns built along the rim of the cliffs, looking west over the water to the sunset. Mykonos is windmills, the waterfront houses of Little Venice and a coastline of beaches and coves. Athens is marble and rooftops, with the Acropolis visible from terraces all over the old centre, and it works as well for a city wedding as it does for a welcome dinner before the islands.
A Greek wedding is generous and social. An Orthodox ceremony has its own rituals, including the crowning of the couple, and whichever ceremony you choose, the evening that follows is long, with plenty of food and dancing. We cover it at that pace and plan the portraits for the soft window before dinner.
Practicalities
Before you plan
The season runs from late May to early October. June and September are the most comfortable months for a wedding; July and August are hot, windy and at their busiest on the islands. For peak dates on Santorini and Mykonos, booking nine to fifteen months ahead is typical.
Civil and Orthodox ceremonies are both possible for foreign couples, with documents prepared in advance, and many couples choose a symbolic ceremony and complete the legal part at home. Your planner or the local municipality will confirm what applies to you.
Athens is the hub. The islands are reached by ferry or a short flight, and in summer the wind can delay or cancel sailings, so the ferry timetable sets the day. A margin against the weather is worth building in, for guests and for us; when it helps, we travel to the island early, and that is agreed per inquiry.

Getting married in Greece
How much does a wedding photographer cost in Greece?
Our weddings in Greece start at €1,450 for Half Day coverage of up to five hours with one photographer, €2,250 for Full Day coverage of up to ten hours, and €2,950 for a Destination Wedding covering the full day. Elopements start at €850. Travel and accommodation are itemised at cost, and your exact quote depends on the date, hours and travel; we send it in reply to your inquiry.
Can we have portraits at the famous sunset viewpoints on Santorini?
You can, but at sunset they are among the most crowded places on the island. We usually photograph there early in the morning, when the paths are quiet, and use a private terrace or a quieter part of the caldera for the evening light.
Does the wind affect a Cycladic wedding?
Often, especially in July and August. It moves veils, candles and table settings, and it can delay ferries. A sheltered corner of the venue, a veil that can be pinned and a day of margin for travel make it part of the day rather than a problem.
Can we marry legally in Greece?
Yes, civil and Orthodox ceremonies are both possible for foreign couples with the right documents, prepared in advance. Many couples choose a symbolic ceremony instead and complete the legal part at home. Your planner or the local municipality will confirm what applies to you.
How far ahead should we book for Santorini or Mykonos?
Nine to fifteen months is typical for June and September dates. Late May and early October are quieter, softer and easier to secure, and the light is often better for it.
Do you photograph elopements on Santorini?
Yes. Our Elopement commission starts at €850 for two hours with one photographer, with help choosing the place and the hour and with any permission a location needs. A sunrise elopement on the caldera, before the island wakes, is one of the calmest ways to marry here.
