Nantucket turns a wedding into a weekend by geography rather than by choice. It is thirty miles out into the Atlantic; you arrive by ferry or by a small plane, and once you are there you are there. Nobody drives home after the toasts. The consequence is the most relaxed set of photographs of any American destination on this list — by Saturday evening a room full of guests has already spent two days together.
Visually the island is a single consistent palette: grey shingle, white trim, blue hydrangea, pale sand, and a haze off the water that softens everything in the distance. It is very forgiving and very uniform, which means the photographs are made by the people rather than by the backdrops. That suits us.
The fog is the one thing to understand. It arrives without much warning, it can sit for a day, and it is genuinely beautiful to photograph in — flat, silver, directionless light that flatters everyone. We do not treat it as a problem, and we would rather plan for it than pretend it will not come.

Do you photograph intimate weddings and elopements?
Yes — often. An elopement or a wedding of a dozen guests gets the same care as a large one, with coverage from US$950 for one to two hours and help choosing the places and the hour.
Can you photograph weddings at our venue?
Almost certainly. We work at venues across Nantucket and beyond, and if we have not photographed yours we plan it from the light, the layout and the timeline before the day. Tell us the venue when you check your date.
Do you travel outside Nantucket?
Yes. We photograph weddings across the United States, the rest of Europe and the United States. Travel is quoted separately, itemised and at cost, so you can see exactly what it adds.
How many photographs will we receive?

Do you require a deposit to book?
Yes. A short agreement and a booking deposit reserve your date, and the deposit is part of the total, not added to it. The balance is due before the wedding.
What happens if the weather changes?
We plan a covered alternative for the portraits with you before the day and adapt the timing on the day itself. Soft rain and cloud can make beautiful photographs; nobody is sent out into a storm.
