Wedding photography in Jackson Hole
We photograph elopements and weddings in Jackson Hole — the valley floor at first light, permitted locations in Grand Teton National Park, working ranches near Moose, and lodges around Teton Village, Wilson and the town of Jackson.
Ceremonies inside the national park need a permit applied for in advance at specified locations, so the permit is the first thing to establish, and it decides where the rest of the morning happens.
The Tetons are unusual among mountain ranges in having no foothills. They come off the valley floor in one move, rising thousands of feet straight up from flat sagebrush, and the result is that from almost anywhere in the valley you have an uninterrupted view of the entire range. There is no equivalent in North America, and it is the whole reason to be married here.
It is also the reason the photography is simpler than it looks. There is no hunting for a vantage: the mountains are west, the light comes from behind you in the morning and behind them in the evening, and a sunrise portrait session on the valley floor in June is about as reliable as landscape photography gets.
What the place demands in return is respect for the fact that most of it is a national park with rules, that the weather in the mountains changes faster than the forecast, and that in every month of the year it is colder at dawn than anyone planning from a city believes.

How far in advance should we book?

Do you photograph intimate weddings and elopements?
Yes — often. An elopement or a wedding of a dozen guests gets the same care as a large one, with coverage from US$950 for one to two hours and help choosing the places and the hour.
Can you photograph weddings at our venue?
Almost certainly. We work at venues across Jackson Hole and beyond, and if we have not photographed yours we plan it from the light, the layout and the timeline before the day. Tell us the venue when you check your date.
Do you travel outside Jackson Hole?
Yes. We photograph weddings across the United States, the rest of Europe and the United States. Travel is quoted separately, itemised and at cost, so you can see exactly what it adds.
How many photographs will we receive?
It depends on the day rather than the clock: a full day usually comes to several hundred edited photographs, an elopement fewer. We do not set a minimum, because a number becomes a target — everything worth keeping is delivered.

Do you require a deposit to book?
Yes. A short agreement and a booking deposit reserve your date, and the deposit is part of the total, not added to it. The balance is due before the wedding.
What happens if the weather changes?
We plan a covered alternative for the portraits with you before the day and adapt the timing on the day itself. Soft rain and cloud can make beautiful photographs; nobody is sent out into a storm.
