Villa Eva is a garden estate below the centre of Ravello, laid out across terraces of lawn, palm and pine with the gulf beyond. It was built as a private house and the grounds were planted generously, which is why it can seat a guest list outdoors that the older villas in the town centre simply cannot — their terraces are narrow and their gardens are historic.

Being lower on the ridge than Cimbrone or Rufolo changes the light. The sun clears the hillside later in the morning and the property keeps a warm, low angle into the evening slightly longer than the terraces above it, which extends the usable window for portraits at the end of the day. The planting is mature enough to give real shade at the hottest hours, which on this coast between June and August is a practical necessity rather than a preference.

The shape that works here is a long outdoor day: ceremony on a lawn, drinks among the palms, dinner under the pines, with the sea present in the background of all three. Because the space is open and the levels are gentle, portraits do not require leaving the party — which, at a wedding where the guests have travelled a long way, is usually what the couple actually want.
