How Much Does a Wedding Photographer Cost in Italy?

Our wedding photography in Italy starts at €1,450 for one photographer and up to five hours, and most couples marrying here from abroad book our Destination Wedding commission, which starts at €2,950 for the full day. These are starting figures: travel and accommodation are quoted on top, itemised and at cost, and the exact price comes in reply to your inquiry.

This article explains our own pricing only. We cannot speak for other photographers, and we are not going to quote averages we have not measured. What we can do is show exactly how our commissions are shaped and what moves a quote, so that the figure you receive from us makes sense before you see it.

Our four commissions

Half Day coverage starts at €1,450. One photographer, four to five hours. It suits a smaller wedding, or a day where the ceremony, the portraits and the dinner happen close together, such as a town hall ceremony in Rome followed by lunch.

Full Day coverage starts at €2,250. One photographer, up to ten hours, which is enough for most weddings from the preparations to the first dance. A second photographer is available as an addition.

Destination Wedding starts at €2,950. It covers the full day with one photographer, and the timing of the portraits is based on what the light actually does on your terrace rather than on a guess. Travel and timing are planned around your wedding; when it helps, we can arrive early to see the venue at ceremony hour, and that is agreed per inquiry. A welcome dinner or a morning-after session can be added.

Elopement starts at €850. One photographer for two hours, with help choosing the place and the hour, and with any permission a location needs.

Every commission includes a preview set within seven days, the complete edited set within eight weeks (four for elopements), a private online gallery, full-resolution downloads and a personal print release.

What moves a quote

Every wedding is quoted individually, because two weddings in the same region can need very different things. Five factors do almost all of the work.

1. Hours of coverage

The biggest single factor is how long the day is. An Italian wedding is often long: an afternoon ceremony, an aperitivo, a dinner of many courses with speeches between them, and dancing after midnight. If you want the preparations in the morning and the dancing at night, you are looking at Full Day coverage or a Destination Wedding rather than Half Day coverage.

The useful question is not how many hours you want, but which moments you want photographed. Tell us the first and the last, and we will tell you which commission covers them.

2. A second photographer

Our commissions include one photographer by default, and for many weddings that is all that is needed. A second photographer is an addition, and it earns its place when the two of you are getting ready in different buildings, when the guest list is large, or when you want the ceremony covered from two angles at once. We will tell you honestly whether your day needs one.

3. Travel

Travel and accommodation are quoted separately, itemised and at cost, so you see what the flights, trains, transfers and nights actually are rather than a round number with a margin built in. The cost depends on where we are travelling from, how remote the venue is and how many nights are involved. If arriving early to see the venue makes sense for your wedding, any extra night appears as its own line.

Region matters here. A villa on Lake Como may involve a boat transfer. The Amalfi Coast road is slow in summer, and some venues are reached by steps rather than by car. A farmhouse in Tuscany usually means a hire car. A masseria in Puglia is typically a flight to the south and a drive. None of these is unusual; they are simply different, and the quote reflects them.

4. Season and date

Our starting prices do not change by month, but the season affects a quote in other ways. Peak summer dates, especially Saturdays in June and September, are the first to go, and travel is often more expensive then. A weekday or a date at the edge of the season can be easier on travel costs, and it is more likely to be available at short notice. For peak summer dates, booking nine to fifteen months ahead is typical.

5. Additions

The commonest additions are a welcome dinner the evening before, a morning-after session, and a second photographer. A welcome dinner is often the most relaxed evening of the whole trip and is worth photographing if your guests have travelled far. A morning-after session gives unhurried portraits in softer light, and it is a good answer to a wedding day where the schedule left little time for them.

Some examples, described rather than priced

We would rather not publish invented totals, but the shapes are useful. An elopement at sunrise in Tuscany, with the two of you and a celebrant, is an Elopement commission plus travel. A civil ceremony in Rome followed by a long lunch for thirty guests usually fits Half Day coverage. A villa wedding on Lake Como with a welcome dinner, preparations in two places and dancing late is a Destination Wedding with additions, plus travel.

Your exact quote depends on the date, hours and travel, and we send it in reply to your inquiry. Beyond the commission itself, it depends mostly on how far we travel, whether you add a second photographer or an extra event, and how long the day runs.

How to get an accurate quote

Tell us about your wedding through the inquiry form: your date, the region or venue, a rough outline of the day and the approximate number of guests.
